Characters
The development of the characters for 'hopes dirge' was quite an in depth process, almost to the point of being too much. Each of the primary and secondary characters have back stories that influence their actions within the scope of the movie but never are touched on. The character that has gone through the most development is the sword, or more precisely the soul trapped within the sword. Initially the sword fell into the trap that a lot of movie villains fall into. Being evil for the sake of evil. My co-writer pointed this out to me, using words like 'stupid idiot' and 'imbecile' and from there she was developed from just evil to amoralistic, power hungry and driven by revenge with a very detailed back story, none of which is ever touched upon within the scope of the movie.
